Brocades, brocades!

Some have a love-hate relationship with brocades, esp the ones made of silk! Brocade yg I jual yg RM6 per pc tu cannot be washed with water, must be dry cleaned. If washed with water, bengkok2 jadiknya awning tu nnti! Ada lak antara u all yg rajin betul merendam tudung dgn awning2 nya sekali...ada yg rendam semalaman! Enggak boleh mbak2 seme!

If nak maintain awning tu cun..of course the best way is to send it for dry-cleaning. Of course le mahal sikit...but if dh pakai 10 kali...baru le hantar dry-clean. But if u insist to wash with water, pls make sure u wash ur brocades first before u jahit. Jgn basuh bagai nak rak...just celup2 dgn air...make sure basah lecun..then hang it to dry. Jgn juga diperah2...but if u terperah...gosok lama2 sikit...shining balik dia nnti.

I dh buat experiment dgn the Givenchy-like brocade, brocade yg RM6, size 37cmx25cm tu after dh basuh...shrank to ariana size awning..tu pun panjang awning dpt cukup2 je...lebar awning kena reduce sikit...elok pun, ariana ori tu lebar sgt awning dia kat crown tu...basi pun dpt nyawa2 ikan je! In ori state, u can get improvised awning size. But washed, ariana ori size yg dikecilkan lagi lebar kat crown. So u can imagine how the fabric can shrink when it touches water.

So brocades baru akan sampai tak lama lagi. If u nak cuci dgn air, maka u hv to buy a bigger sized brocade. Those yg opt for dry-cleaning, can stick to the current size tht I'm selling. Price for a bigger brocade will be slightly higher, nnti I buat costing dulu. Later I will announce the price ek.

Those who would like to share their experience regarding brocade awnings, pls do so at the comment section. Biar ramai2 leh learn from ur experiences.

Thx!

Anyway here is my experience:

I have only ever tried the sakura cherry blossom brocade. I rinsed it under running water, with a bit of shower foam to get some chalk marks out. I then hung it to air dry in my room near the air cond. After 2 hours, I used the silk setting on my steam iron to dry it and take the creases out. Worked like a charm. No apparent shrinkage.

I would not soak it though.

Yela, selalu kalau saya pegi ss2 tu, ada beberapa jenis kain yang saya beli tu mesti ahmoi tu pesan suruh rendam dulu semalaman, that includes denim and brocades...

Alamak, tadi tak cerita habis; lps rendam, then keringkan, lepas tu baru saya potong ikut template... rasanya yg grey denim ada shrink sikit, tp sikit je... oklah lagi...

Cikgu Rozila & Yela,
Saya tak pasti semua jenis brocade and denim kena rendam dulu atau sesetengah jenis je, kalau boleh masa nak beli tu tanya lah kat toke kedai tu....

ada org kata cherry blossom nya brocade tak shrink. guess ikut corak gak kot!

tokeh tu kata..if kat brocade tu ada cam different2 texture...or diff compositions in 1 brocade...cam givenchy tu...jalur2 tu cam ala kosong sikit kan...maka leh dia shrink. mcm2 theory. i lak...maka kata silk aje...dry-clean je la!

my fren lak buat..dia spray habis2 dgn air brocade tu pas tu gosok, then spray lagi....sampai brocade tu dh tak shrink pas tu baru dia buat awning.
